Annual Adopt-a-1L Program

2025-2026 Program Details

Welcome to a new year of meaningful mentorship! The Student Bar Association’s Adopt-a-1L program connects incoming 1L students with both a student mentor (2L or 3L) and a faculty mentor. This dual-mentor model ensures every new law student starts the year with academic guidance, professional support, and a friendly face in the UHLC community.

Why Participate?

For Mentees (1L Students)

  • Gain experienced guidance from upperclassmen on coursework, professional development, and life in law school.
  • Receive personalized support to navigate the academic transition and manage stress effectively.
  • Although every student receives a faculty mentor, completing the Mentee Interest Form helps us match you with a student mentor aligned to your interests and goals.

For Mentors (2L/3L Students)

  • Pay it forward by supporting UHLC’s incoming class.
  • Share insights on study tactics, career planning, and balancing law school with personal life.
  • May be matched with more than one mentee and serve as a proactive, accessible resource throughout the year.
